Computer Network Technology
Computer Network Technicians establish, operate, maintain and coordinate the use of networks, software, hardware, and related computer equipment. Individuals in this role typically troubleshoot and provide IT support, install and maintain software, monitor network security, and perform back up operations.
According to the most recent information, provided by Service Canada, “Employment opportunities will be fair for Computer Network Technicians in Manitoba. Employment growth in this occupation is expected to be stronger than average. However, this growth will be partially offset by average proportions of workers retiring, as well as unemployed workers with experience in this occupation who may compete for available jobs.”
This program has an integrated approach to computer network administration and network solution design. Areas of study include enterprise operating systems and server environments, internetworking design, and network systems management focused on the issues of performance, optimization, and security.
Program length: 12 months (20 hours/week, M-TH) includes 8 week internship

The Computer Network Technology program prepares graduates to work for an organization that currently has installed or is planning to install a computer network or with computer support organizations that consult with clients on the installation and maintenance of computer networks.
Examples of possible job titles include: Helpdesk Coordinator, IT/Tech Support, Systems Technician, Service Desk Analyst, Network Support Technician.
