Certificate courses require post-secondary education (university degree or college diploma) OR related experience. Individual classes do not have pre-requisite requirements.
Everyone learns at different paces but we expect that it will take students an average of 7-20 hours per week to read through course material, complete assignments and participate in discussions and live sessions, depending on the length and format of your course (Instructor Led vs. Instructor Supported).
For Instructor Led students assignments and material are released as the course progresses so students do not have the option to work ahead and complete the course early. Instructor Supported students can complete the course material at their convenience and have up to 6 months to complete everything.
Each course has a dedicated online Instructor with relevant education or experience. Contact information for your Instructor is available online and many offer live sessions with students for additional assistance.
If you are in an Instructor Led format you will have classmates that you can interact and collaborate with regularly through Moodle, live sessions, email and discussion forums.
We do not offer employment assistance as most students who take professional development courses are currently employed. When we are approached by companies interested in graduates of our certificate program we certainly pass the opportunities along to students.
Your instructor may offer live sessions through phone or video where you have the opportunity to chat with your instructor and classmates, ask questions and discuss assignments or relevant industry topics.
Yes, when you complete a certificate you will receive a digital and printed copy of your certificate of completion.
Instructor Led courses follow a set schedule (usually 10-12 weeks) with a dedicated Instructor and classmates. The Instructor posts weekly discussions and hosts live online sessions where students can call in via conference call to discuss assignments, industry topics etc. with their peers. The live sessions are recorded and archived for reference. The Instructor Led option has a heavier workload upfront but offers increased engagement, opportunity for discussion and encourages students to complete the course within a shorter time frame. Tuition for the certificate must be paid in full prior to the completion of the certificate.
Instructor Supported courses come with the support of a dedicated Instructor but do not follow a set class schedule. Students work at their own pace to complete the course within a 6 month time period. The Instructor has pre-recorded lectures that are available for students to review. Students can call into weekly live sessions with the Instructor Led student sessions but the topics may not align with where they currently are in their coursework. The Instructor Supported option offers students continued support from a dedicated instructor with the flexibility to complete the certificate over a longer period of time. Tuition for the certificate must be paid in full prior to the completion of the certificate.
If you need to withdraw you will have to contact your instructor, academic dean or admissions advisor in writing. Refunds are based off of the amount of the course you complete prior to your withdrawal. Click to view our withdrawal and refund policy.
