Language+ Program
Learn English or French in Montreal plus a college course.
We have expanded our language program to include new options through our language+ program.
Students enrolled in the general English program at Herzing College and who are at least B1-level can now enrol in one of our six-week college courses:
- Language+ International Marketing, an Import/Export course
- Language+ Advertising and Direct Marketing, an International Commerce course
- Language+ Space Planning, an Interior Design course
Professionals, young adults, and high school graduates who want to improve their English can also learn more about these topics in English. A Herzing College certificate of completion is awarded to all students who successfully complete their language program and college course.

Language+ International Marketing
Frequency: 3 classes per week
Duration: 2.5 hours (45 hours total)
Cost: $525 CAD
The International Marketing course covers topics such as the development of marketing plans to achieve business targets and, the implementation and coordination of international marketing activities for products and services. Learners will be exposed to the principles of marketing functions and the distinctions between domestic and international marketing. They will also discuss such activities as adapting and/or developing products and services for the foreign market and the sales and marketing activities to be most successful in the target markets.
Language+ Advertising and Direct Marketing
Frequency: 4 classes per week
Duration: 3 hours ( 75 hours total)

The Advertising and Direct Marketing course explores the role of advertising with a focus on the structure, environment, and strategy of advertising and a practical and managerial approach to the principles and applications of direct marketing in organizations and in the marketplace. Topics include the advertising environment; ethical issues and social responsibility; advertising background, planning, and strategy; advertising media types, media planning, and media buying; factors for creating advertising for various media; public relations and promotions; and business-to-business and international advertising; direct marketing scope, planning and strategies; consumer and business mailing lists; the media of direct marketing; direct marketing on the internet; creating and managing direct mail advertising, catalogues and print advertising; and business-to-business direct marketing.
Language+ Space Planning
Frequency: 4 classes per week
Duration: 3 hours ( 75 hours total)

Space Planning is a course that introduces fundamental concepts and methods for planning, organizing, and arranging spaces in the interior environment. Students examine space in terms of human needs, activities, and priorities and apply design processes to making the best functional and aesthetic use of space. The course reinforces methods of graphic communication; to solve design problems through conceptualization, three-dimensional thinking and planning; and to teach the design elements and the functional requirements of various single-room spaces and axonometric drawing as a presentation technique. Topics include ergonomics, circulation, and dividing areas into functional zones when planning spaces.
Pathway English – Full Time

This program is open to students enrolled in one of Herzing College’s programs. Completing the program up to level B2 allows students to start their college program immediately, without having to provide an IELTS test score.
The program prepares students for sustained daily interaction in English and exposes them to topics related to their immediate environment: personal, academic, and professional. Students will practise all four language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Furthermore, they will have the opportunity to learn about the Canadian job market and all the related topics in the professional development workshop.
Immersion English – Full-time

This program is open to students who want to improve their English for personal reasons, such as work, travel, university study, or test preparation. It is a year-long program (48 weeks), ideal for international students on a gap leave who want to explore Montreal and enjoy a college campus experience right downtown.
This program prepares students at a high proficiency level by combining ESL material with IELTS, TOEFL, and other academic English resources. The mornings are reserved for integrated English skills: grammar, vocabulary, listening, and speaking. The afternoons are dedicated to academic English: reading, writing, and IELTS/ TOEFL practice, including speaking and listening.
Online English – Part-time
- 30 hours/10 weeks (part time)

This is a part-time English program delivered online. It’s open to Herzing College prospective students (Pathway) and to anyone interested in improving their English at a more relaxed pace.
This general ESL program works all the skills but with a focus on oral communication: pronunciation, fluency, grammar, and vocabulary. Students meet online twice per week, in small groups of a maximum of six participants. They are expected to interact in class, prepare short presentations, and do weekly homework.
General French – (free for Herzing College students)
- 45 hours / 15 weeks (part time)

- Monday – Wednesday: 4:00 – 5:30 PM EST

This is a part-time French program offered on campus. It’s open to all students enrolled in one of Herzing College’s diploma programs. The course is offered on a first come, first served basis, at no extra cost to students. The aim of the program is to introduce students to the French language and to the local culture.
This introductory French language course is a stepping stone for those interested in working and maybe living in Quebec long term. Students learn the sounds of the language and basic grammar and vocabulary, as well as oral communication skills and everyday expressions.
Immersion French – Full-time
- 8 levels, 48 weeks total
- Beginner to Advanced: A1; A1+; A2, A2+; B1; B1+; B2; B2+/C

The Immersion French course is designed to help students learn French at a high level (TEF-CLB 7-8). It is recommended to students interested in learning the language at a fast pace and it includes preparation for French language exams DELF, DALF, and TEF. Focused on all four skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking), the course is built on a series of French textbooks that has a proven record of success.
This course is good for students who need to reach a high level of French, whether for work, study, or immigration. It has a more academic focus in the afternoon, when students practise for the official French-language tests.
