Community Support Worker
This program provides students with the necessary knowledge and practical skills for employment as a Community Support Worker in order to provide many types of assistance to people in the community. They may serve clients in hospitals, halfway houses, detoxification centres, residential care facilities, rehabilitation centres and outpatient clinics where they provide training in daily living skills, personal communications and personal and vocational counseling.
This program provides instruction in sociology, psychology, mental health issues, affects of addictions on society, the Canadian family dynamic, high risk populations, communication skills, and team and group work skills that are required of a health care professional working as a community support worker.
