Computing Support DVS
The Diploma of Vocational Studies (D.V.S.) in computing support has a duration of 1800 hours, full time and comprises a 240 hour internship in the industry. The purpose of the program is to develop the competencies necessary for applying the methods required in order to effectively practice the career, such as problem solving, researching information and time management. Skills related to optimal use of software are also developed: the use of older as well as recent operating systems, the use of application software, creating and using databases and the use of telecommunications. Developing the skills related to communication in the work place and customer support such as: interacting in a variety of of professional situations, communicating in French/English, providing call-centre customer assistance. Finally, the development of the competencies necessary for network management: assessing the structure and functioning of computer systems, developing programs, installing hardware and software, managing access, setting up resource sharing, troubleshooting and computer optimization.
What career path will Herzing College prepare me for?
Graduates will be prepared to work as computer network technicians, WEB technicians network support technician or network support technician.

Admission Requirements
To be eligible for admission to the Computing Support program, candidates must meet one of the following requirements:
- Persons holding a Secondary School Diploma or its recognized equivalent.
- Persons who are at least 16 years of age on September 30 of the school year in which their training is to begin and have earned the Secondary IV credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister, or have been granted recognition of equivalent learning.
- Persons who are at least 18 years of age upon entry into the program and have the following functional prerequisites: the successful completion of the General Development Test and the course in language of instruction ENG-3071-3, mathematics MTH-4101-2, or recognition of equivalent learning.
- Persons having earned Secondary III credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister and who will continue their general education courses concurrently with their vocational training in order to obtain the credits they are missing among the following: Secondary IV language of instruction, second language and mathematics in the programs of study established by the Minister.
