Skilled drafters interpret the ideas of engineers and present them in the language of manufacturing and construction. In the past, drafters primarily produced working and schematic drawings using a variety of drafting machines, rules, T-squares, curves, triangles, and other drawing tools. Today, these professional men and women produce these drawings using a computer-assisted drafting system known as CAD.

As the universal language of industry and construction, CAD serves as both the functional and creative link that brings designers and manufacturers together. Today, powerful computer systems and software give CAD/Designers the opportunity to draw with total accuracy, incredible detail and great speed. Completing the program opens the door to a variety of career paths and the opportunity to eventually assume management positions. Graduates find themselves in high demand and may immediately enter industry as a drafter or CAD Operator.
